As a Digital Native- I grew up around technology, I understand how to navigate and use technology to my advantage and I understand how to operate software. I do depend on it greatly, not just for practical purposes like doing school (like I am doing the foundation unit rn) but also for leisure, like scrolling for social media. (knowing what's going on with the culture, hence my screen time being really high. This task helped me evaluate how I use my time within the digital landscape and whether that time is useful to me, I think I should use social media apps a lot less, I feel this bombardment of not useful information that's constantly being pushed onto me, also everyone is cynical online and has a lack of sincerity and empathy that I find disheartening. This is just covering the social media aspect of course and doesn’t explain Digital Literacy as a whole. Overall digital life is just another part of life, I use my alarm clock app on my phone to wake me up to get ready for the day, and pick it up constantly throughout the day whether that be for leisure or when I need to for calls and messages etc until I set up my alarm to wake me up for the next day. So using digital technologies becomes a way of living because our lives are caught up on it. Onto the behind the scenes of it all, when recording how I use different apps, I attempted to mimic a stop motion style of directing, I even downloaded an app and watched a youtube video on how to direct it. Obviously i’m no cinematographer, it doesn’t look great at all, but I chose this style of filming because some of my favourite movies like Coraline (2009) are stop motion films and the effort and and human labour that went in making that film exemplifies how much people care for their craft, it’s also such a stunning and breathtaking film visually. I did mention that I use a website dedicated to amateur film reviewing and showcased a sneak peak of the films that were on my watchlist (52) so the filming technique that I used makes sense. Overall my Digital Life is important to me, not just for its practicality (calls, messages, navigation etc, but I do enjoy the social aspects of it that have led me to communicate with other and build communities online.
